Kindergarten Thanksgiving Feast with Indians & Pilgrims

Anna's class had their Thanksgiving Feast today, so I sped over from work & got some cute pictures. Every family brought in something - we had celery sticks. Mrs. King does a great job with the decorations, in particular, the outfits for the kids. Anna was a pilgrim as you can see!

Last night, Pete took Rosie & her 2 friends to see High School Musical 3. Anna & Jo & I stayed back & had fun watching a movie & eating popcorn. Rosie was sitting on the floor engrossed in the movie & Jo plopped down & got a pillow trying to be just like her. They are two peas in a pod. I have a picture of both of them on my dresser as babies, and I can hardly tell them apart (Caroline, you are right that they look alike!)

Leaf time today - we spent most of the day raking leaves & cutting back dead stuff. Jo looks like she is bundled up for a winter snowstorm while Anna has a t-shirt & jacket on (so typical of my crazy child). I give up telling her that it is winter time, not summer!

The outside is cleaned up for Thanksgiving, and I worked on the inside on Saturday. Still have lots more to do but what's new. It will all be fine by Thursday.... Can't wait though - I love being with my family & am really looking forward to hosting it this year.

End of the soccer season

We lost in the 1st round tournament on Saturday morning. It was freezing outside, and our game began at 8am. The girls were pumped up & ready to go though. They played the BEST game against a good Sacred Heart team. To be honest, we should have won. We had more shots on goal and kept the ball in their end practically the whole game. The final score was 3-2 - we were even up for most of the game 2-1. The girls were very upset, and Coach Gerry was so supportive. He wanted to win as much as them. They played so darn hard - we were all so proud of them. I still can't believe what an exciting game we saw.

My camera was not working on Saturday, but I was so darn cold & had to hold Josephine (she was freezing even though I bundled her up!)

A few notes about Rosie & her playing. She was tough as nails out on the field. She even tried to head the ball once. She stopped so many balls & got through a bunch of girls - really made some good plays. She passed one ball perfectly to Sarah for one of those goals that should have been....

I will miss the games. It still cracks me up how intense a 3rd grade game can be. It is so different watching your children play. I just enjoy it so much & am so proud of her team.

Dinner with my parents

Last Sunday, my parents came over for dinner just because....

It was a wonderful time just being together over a meal. Thanks for coming over, and I can't wait for next month!

Soccer in the cold!

It's cold here - I guess I should say, finally. It really feels cold because we had such unseasonably warm weather until now. Rosie had her final soccer season game on Saturday, and they won 4-0 against St. Peters! They played so well - passing, calling out for the ball, aggressive, playing like a team! I was about 15 minutes late letting Jo finish her nap, and I missed Rosie's goal. I was bummed but happy that she scored. She was pumped because she used her left foot too! They played so well that Coach Gerry switched up the team & had Rosie play defense & let the defense play offense. Both Gabby & Megan scored (our typical defenders), so they were all so excited. As you know, the goal scorers tend to get all the glory even when it is critical to have good defenders.

We have a tournament this weekend, so I hope they play like they did on Saturday!

I'm traveling this week with work, so it is going to be a crazy week for Pete. He's a good husband & all my planning for him probably isn't even necessary! He does appreciate it though - anything to make it a little easier is always good. I love you Pete - you're an awesome dad & hubby.

Taking a break in our bedroom - everyone loves our pillows for some reason. The other two are constantly taking them into their room too.

Soccer update

Well, Anna finished her last game on Saturday. They had another great game & actually tied Our Lady of the Pillar. I'm so proud of Anna & how she played. She passed the ball & was always so happy for her friends to score. She is very driven & likes to win. She is going to be a great player as she continues to hone her skills.

Rosie's team is in building mode (as I keep reminding Coach Pete & Coach Gerry). They are so much better than last year, but they did lose 5-0 on Saturday. Pete & Gerry take every game to heart which is very commendable, but they need to focus on building a team. I personally think the girls are still focused on their own skills & how one of them will score. They need drills to enforce it is a team effort to get the ball down the field. I have to remind myself that I am not the coach, so I will just keep quiet for now. They will get there but it does not happen over night. Many of the kids on other teams (a few on our team) play year round & are on traveling teams. Our kids prefer to play a variety of sports (which is good), but it hurts as we may not be as strong in soccer.

Saturday is our last game, and I just hope for a goal for our team (we don't need to win just play well!) I WILL take pictures this week. Jo is so busy now & runs so fast that I have trouble getting pictures at Rosie's game. I am going to strap her into her stroller....

Halloween Night

Just have to post some more pics of Halloween night. We went to our friend's home, the Gombas', who live on the coolest street in Brentwood. Seriously, they do some decorating for Halloween. The police have to block it off because it is so busy & fun. Thank you Tera & Robert for hosting such a fun party - awesome food, drink & friends!

Halloween week/weekend - where to begin?

On Wednesday, Anna's kindergarten class had their Halloween party. Mrs. King, her Kindergarten teacher, loves Halloween! She does most of the party, so Tammy & I just need to "assist" her. St. MM had a 1/2 day on Thursday for parent/teacher conferences, and then they were lucky enough to be off school on Friday. Here's some pics from the party. They were all so well-behaved during the party. Mrs. King gave them a penny when they won the game, and they loved it (vs. more candy). It went by too fast, and I enjoyed my time with just Anna.
