First Communion

We had a busy week preparing for this wonderful celebration. Pete & I are so happy for Rosie! First Communion was April 26th at 2pm. We had a perfect day - 70 degrees & sunny! Trees in full bloom & a slight breeze. What a beautiful ceremony! All the girls looked so beautiful, and the boys were so handsome. I, of course, teared up because I am such a sap. Every child that I have makes me cry at the drop of a hat. I am so happy that Rosie is growing up, but these wonderful events bring up all my emotions, and I tear up.

Lauren & Stephanie were kind enough to do Rosie & Anna's hair! We all know I can hardly do my own hair, and Lauren & Stephanie were kind enough to help me out today. They did an awesome job, and Rosie's hair was gorgeous.

Every year, the kids paint a self-portrait & make this beautiful collage. Rosie is the first one on the left in pig tails. They auction it in the fall & it really is quite the auction item!!

Diaper Derby

Jo attends St. John's Mercy Childcare Center, and this week was "Week of the Young Child." Her teachers are Margaret & Becky, and they are the best!! Jo loves them, and I think they are some of the best daycare teachers I have ever known (I do have some experience with daycare teachers!) Anyway, a few years ago they started "The Diaper Derby." I thought it was the funniest thing to do. About a week ago, I sent a note to them that said the following "Please feed me only carbohydrates as I am in training for the Derby." Margaret sent a small 1 pound weight back for training over the weekend. I got the biggest kick from our give & take each day.

Well, the Diaper Derby was on Tuesday, and there was major competition from Logan (Jo's boy toy - another one of my friendly jokes). Jo & Logan are two peas in a pod. He is a big boy, but Jo and him are constantly causing trouble in the room. They get into everything and have a really tough time sharing. They actually bit each other this week! Anyway, we thought these two would be taking off & easily win the Derby. Instead, they just sat there. Jo actually crawled after a few minutes, but Logan got upset & wouldn't do anything. I think they were intimidated by all the people staring at them! It was still adorable, and I enjoyed spending time with Jo during the day. I am always at St. MM vs. the daycare, and Jo deserves some more of my time.

Pete & I also had breakfast together at the cafeteria!! Now that was fun - seriously, it was nice to have a meal where we could talk & not have someone interrupting us or needing something.

Time to write down my thoughts...

Time flies when you are having fun! It is April 12th, 2008, and it is cold & rainy in St. Louis. We had a fun day going to the Hill today. We finally decided what to make for Rosie's 1st Communion - pasta, of course. Pete's mom is going to show me how to make her awesome pasta sauce, & then we will buy some different type of noodles from Digregario's. We also ordered some Italian cookies from the Missouri Baking Company. They are so delicious!!

We came home for a bit, and I did laundry (I was lazy this week & it really piled up). Rosie got her ears pierced for her 8th birthday but unfortunately, they became infected about 6 weeks ago. We had to let them close up because they were so red & infected - I just couldn't stick an earring through it. Yuck! Anyway, she really wanted to get them pierced again & we are going to be vigilant about cleaning them. They also both got new sunglasses.

Before we came home we grabbed some ice cream at our new Baskin Robbins. It was packed!! Our new center still needs to get some shops though. There is a ton of space unleased.

Jo is the funniest baby! She is walking now and wants to get into everything. She pushes everthing that she can get her hands on. When we were at lunch, she pushed the chairs around the entire restaurant. Luckily, it was family-friendly, and we were eating a very late lunch. She eats everthing also. Loves pizza, ice cream, strawberries, blueberries, chicken, bread, carrots are some of her favorites. We all say "she is so cute & we love her so much."

I must get to bed, so I am not too tired tomorrow.
