Pet Week

Mrs. King, Anna's Kindergarten teacher, always does pet week. Guess which family does not own one pet? Yes, that's us! We have allergies plus we are not home enough to care for a pet. Anna is quietly winning us over with wanting a pet. I've almost (but not quite) caved into getting this little rat (aka: guinea pig). I don't know - fish sound pretty appealing to me. I would also consider a very small dog in a few years when Jo is older. We went to PetSmart & took pictures for her to bring in her "wish for a pet." It made her happy for the day!

Two year old check-up today, and the doctor jokingly said "she's as big as a 1-year old now." She only weighs 21 pounds! She's off the charts & not in the way most people speak about - I guess we should say she's way below the chart! She is perfectly proportioned for her size though, and her brain is just right as well. Dr. Finn looked at me & said, "why do you expect your kids to be big?" I laughed!! Pete & I are not tall individuals!

Anyway, here's some pics from Sunday of just Jo. Her new hat given by her godparents, Kay & Greg. She looked adorable!!! Try not to notice her slightly runny nose.

Mother's Day at Forest Park

Our family routine for Mother's Day is to meet at Forest Park about 1pm, have a picnic lunch & then play soccer, wiffleball or just hang out together. It was a brisk day but nice enough to be outside. We also celebrated Josephine's birthday, Debbie's birthday, and Rachel's Confirmation. Pete & I can't believe what a treasure Forest Park is - we are so lucky to live in St. Louis with the many ,many free sites. Forest Park is a wonderful, beautiful park plus the Zoo (free), Art Museum, and Science Center. If you know Forest Park, we've taken our Christmas photos there quite a few times!

These pictures are so cute!!! Jo's boyfriend at school is Logan, and he is her protector. He is so big & tall, and Jo is so little.

She was giving me one of her looks, but the next one is GREAT!

Look who turned 2!

My baby turned two on Friday, and Pete & I can't believe it. At 10pm on May 7th, I reminded him that two years ago we were headed to the hospital. That night, he kept asking me if I was really in labor because I was e-mailing & working during contractions. I had work to finish.....

On Friday night, my parents came over to celebrate her birthday. It was really nice & relaxing & just perfect!

We got an ice cream cake since I was going to make a cake for Sunday's celebration. Jo did pretty well blowing out her candle!

Anna's decorations for Jo. They said "Jo is 2!" The 2 kept turning around, but we loved it anyway. I made biscuits as a special treat for breakfast before we headed out to school & work.

Bridging to Juniors

Last Sunday, Rosie "bridged" over from Brownies to Juniors. The leaders did a really nice job on the bridging ceremony. The girls each said one part of a poem & then walked across a little bridge to officially be Junior Girl Scouts. They are all very excited! Girl Scouts is a great program, and my memories from scouting are so positive and good. My mom was my leader, and she was AWESOME! I am continually baffled as to how she raised 6 kids, coached softball, lead all the Girl Scout troops, kept us fed with a great meal each night & was never crabby like I am daily!

Big Bed Time

We are very early moving Jo to a big bed, but my sister wants the crib. She is not expecting her baby until August, but she's a planner.... Love ya Joanie! Jo is awesome in her toddler bed though. She keeps saying "big bed" and slept like a trooper the last two nights. I think it is because she sleeps in a similar one at daycare, and it is only a few inches off the floor. The only issue is that she can get out of it now - I found her asleep with Anna this morning. Pretty cute, but I have a feeling she may end up there more & more. We may have a sleeping room for the three girls & a play room in the other bedroom.
